Nana (ナナ) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Ai Yazawa….Nana (manga) ナナ Over all this anime is amazing, it’s one of the first anime I’ve ever watched and it left a big hole in my heart. The anime makes you feel like you’re there experiencing the same things the characters are, the animation is beautiful for its time and the sound track is amazing as well. The anime does that thing where you need to read the Manga to continue the story. It is because NANA is not a typical shoujo which makes it suitable for a wider audience it’s far from your average school-life-love-triangle romance. NANA is possibly one of the most complicated romances I have ever come across this complexity is what makes it so amazing, outstanding and fascinating. In chapter 78 it is revealed that following the car crash which concluded Chapter 77, on Nana’s 21’st birthday, Ren has died. He mistook a cat for Nana while driving fast through the snow (while also being pursued by paparazzi members of SEARCH) and crashes into his old apartment. The story follows two young women named Nana, who meet on a train to Tokyo and become close friends. Paradise Kiss manga creator Ai Yazawa also wrote the wildly popular josei manga, Nana, so perhaps it’s no surprise that this story also has a not-so-happy ending. NANA is a story of dreams and ambition, and the characters have struggled too hard and for too long to be left hanging. One of the saddest things about NANA is that its creator Ai Yazawa (who has been fighting against an unspecified illness since 2009) hasn’t been able to finish it.
